Cat Travel Tips
Make sure your pet is in good condition before you go. If you have a cat that is older, sick or pregnant, it is not always safe for travel. If you are unsure, take your pet’s veterinarian for a medical examination before leaving the tour. You should also make sure that your pet is current on all vaccinations, including rabies shots.
Have proper identification tags with your pet are important when traveling. Animals can be separated from their owners when traveling by plane, it is essential to have labels on top of your cat or maybe a computer chip to ensure your cat can be identified and will be returned if they are separated. Microchip procedures are safe, fast and more and more popular as cat hospitals, animal shelters and kennels are using scanning equipment to read the chip and help reunite pets and owners.
Keep extra supplies for your cat to get in the car and upon reaching his destination. With your pet’s favorite toys, here are some other important supplies for pets to take your trip: additional leashes and collars, an old blanket or towel to put under the cage for easy cleaning, the bed if your pet have one, a plate of food and water, extra issue, grooming supplies, cat litter tray and extra litter and a first aid kit for pets.
